Frontman of Aussie rockers Grinspoon, Phil Jamieson

Phil Jamieson to play the Akoostik
Phil Jamieson has joined the massive line-up of visiting artists and fresh local talent set to play the 2010 Wingham Akoostik Music Festival. Jamieson, who hails from Wauchope, is best known as the lead singer of Aussie punk-rockers Grinspoon. Grinspoon shot to musical superstardom in 1995 when they won the Triple J-sponsored Unearthed competition with their post-grunge song ‘Sickfest’. The band has been a mainstay of the Australian youth music scene for the past 15 years, their high-octane live shows providing a strong backing for an impressive six studio albums. Jamieson, 33, currently lives in Port Macquarie with his family. He has been known to don the acoustic guitar and harmonica during Grinspoon sets and last year performed a solo gig at the Kickin 4 Kids charity in Adelaide. At this stage the Akoostik Fesitval committee is unsure what he has in store for the crowd. However, one thing is certain: you won’t want to miss it!

Wendy Matthews
